Google Business Profile Offers Access

Offers Via Desktop & Mobile Update

To get to the OFFER section of your Google Business Profile, you need to click the ADD UPDATE icon or the ADD UPDATE carousel card (as illustrated above).

3 Types of Google Business Profile Posts

1. Updates or Posts (See Appendix M)

Update posts provide information about your business or organization, a new product or service, a new hire or something new about your business.

2. Offers (The Focus of This Appendix)

Offer posts are used for promotions or sales. Google Business Profile Offers appear near the top of your profile on Google Search and Maps (a great reason to use them). Offer posts also appear with all the other posts in the UPDATES section of your profile.

3. Events (See Appendix L)

You can post about “Events” at your business and/or online. If your event meets certain criteria, they may show on the OVERVIEW tab of your profile, which makes them more prominent.

Add Event Via Desktop or Carousel Update

Click the “add update” icon or click the “add update” carousel card. Either link will open the “add update” dialog box. Click on the second option ADD OFFER.

How To Add Your Offer Posting Screens

Next, a new screen will open with fields for OFFER TITLE, START DATE, END DATE, DESCRIPTION, PHOTO and LINK TO OFFER. You don’t need to add an offer link, but you’ll want to so that you can link to a page on your site or another page that contains your offer.

Offer Publication and Sharing

Offer Submitted on Desktop

Google will email you if your offer isn’t approved. Otherwise, you should see you offer go live on your profile, typically within a few minutes.

Clicking a published offer will open a share dialog box as illustrated.

Tap the “updates” link to open the “add update” or “edit update” dialog box. Add an IMAGE, OFFER TITLE, START DATE, END DATE and LINK to your offer.

The REDEEM OFFER link appears beneath the post. It links to the sales page for that offer.

Why Post Offers To My Google Business Profile?

Offers Reach Customer Who May Not Visit Your Site

When you post offers to your Google Business Profile, the offers are publicly available for all visitors to your profile to see without having to go to your website or call you.

Offer Posts Are Promotional

Google Business Profile offers can be used to promote new products, new services, sales, specials and unique offers that all expire. That’s part of the appeal, GBP offer posts are fresh content for your listing.

Google Business Profile Offers Are Timely

Posting offers on your GBP, which can include images and video, draws visitor attention to time-sensitive offers

What Not To Post To Your GBP?

Do Not Include Your Phone Number On Offers

In an effort to minimize what they call “phone stuffing”, Google does not allow post content to include a phone number. 

You can use the “Call Now” button with a post that uses your verified Google Business Profile number.

Do Not Repost The Same Offers

It’s a common practice for social posting to circle through content over the course of a year. Google prohibits posting the same content multiple times.

Make sure each of your offers are unique.

Hotels Cannot Create "Offer" Posts

Google wants to ensure that customers don’t get confused about deals, promotions, offer and discounts and does not allow Hotels to create “offer” posts for this reason.

  • Misinformation
  • Misrepresentation

  • Sexually Explicit Content
  • Adult-Themed Content
  • Violence
  • Restricted Content
  • Dangerous Content
  • Illegal Content
  • Child Safety
  • Terrorist Content
  • Off Topic Content
  • Advertising & Solicitation
  • Repetitive Content
